A modder successfully installed Windows 11 on a smartphone

Gustav Monce was able to run and install a test build of Windows 11 on a Microsoft Lumia 950 XL smartphone. It was not difficult for him, because he had previously ported a version of Windows 10 for ARM processors to the same device. According to him, Windows 11 works better on a smartphone than the previous version of the OS.

It is noteworthy that the Lumia 950 XL, after installing Windows 11, retained some of the usual smartphone functions. The operating system detects that it has two SIM-cards, and it can even make and receive calls, as well as exchange SMS-messages.

The possibilities that are available on a computer are not worth waiting for from the Lumia 950 XL even after installing Windows 11. It’s all about the limitations imposed by the ARM processor, the screen size and the form factor of the smartphone. For the most part, only built-in Microsoft applications are available on the device, and even then not all of them work. Of course, there is no talk of launching desktop programs.
