A new operating system called "Oniro" unveiled

OpenAtom and the Eclipse Foundation have unveiled the Oniro operating system. It is built on the basis of HarmonyOS, which in turn was created with a close eye on Android.

Oniro and HarmonyOS will develop in parallel. The developments implemented in one operating system will be transferred to another and vice versa. Both platforms are multi-core, so they can be used in devices of different categories.

Oniro will be used in smartphones, tablets, IoT gadgets and automotive systems. Manufacturers will be able to choose which OS to install on the device – Oniro and HarmonyOS. The platforms are fully compatible with each other, although the development of each of them is carried out independently. Huawei and several other electronics manufacturers have shown interest in Oniro.
