The Internet allows you to quickly exchange documents. The main tool for this has been and remains e-mail. But cloud technology has made file sharing even easier. Do you want to transfer your file to someone, but don’t use Dropbox, Yandex.Disk, Google Drive, or don’t know much about technology, or want to send files without registration?
It is possible to send a person a direct link to the file, which will be a solution to the problem. Putting a file in the cloud is easy, but there are even more convenient ways to share information. We will consider several of these options.
These free services do not involve creating accounts, and you do not need to install a client program to work with them. And the interfaces are intuitive, so you won’t have to waste time on training. All you need to do is upload your file to the right place and get a direct link to it, then send it to the recipient. It’s so easy!
This service stands out at least for the fact that it allows you to transfer files up to 2 GB in size. At the same time, you will not find any restrictions on the number of downloads, which is clearly a big plus. Files can be sent attached to email messages, which most users usually do. But it’s much easier to share links to them in chats or elsewhere. WeTransfer allows users to create such messages with a pointer to shared files.
1. Go to service main page and press the button «Add your files» to add a file.
2. To create a link to the downloaded file, click on the button with three dots.
3. Check the box next to Link and press the button Transfer… The process of uploading the file to the cloud will begin.
4. Press the button Copy link to copy the link.
5. Send the link to the recipient in any convenient way. To download a file, you just need to follow the link and click the button Download.
Optionally, you can password protect the downloaded files. And to control their removal, you will have to purchase a subscription. But the user will also receive the ability to encrypt their information, and the ability to store it longer than the default seven days.
This service allows you to exchange files by email in seconds and is completely free. Getting started with SendTransfer is easy – just drag and drop the file into the download window. You can also click on the Add Files to Transfer button to view your prepared files for transfer and add new ones to them.
In the next step, you will need to enter the email addresses of the people to whom this file should be sent. There you can, if you wish, write some kind of message and, of course, your own sender’s address.
Click the Send button on the right and the files will be sent to the recipients.
This service allows you to send files up to 10 GB in size. When uploading files, you can also specify how long they will be stored on SendTransfer servers. The default is seven days.
The recipient will receive an email with a link, upon switching to which he will be redirected to the service.
To download the document, it remains to click the button Download.
For those who just want to share their screenshots from time to time, the Snaggy service is suitable. Take a screenshot of the screen or part of it using the tools built into the operating system that allow you to copy the screenshot to the clipboard.
1. Create a screenshot in the clipboard. To do this, press the keyboard shortcut Alt + Print Screen (for Windows), ⇧Shift + Ctrl + ⌘Cmd + 3 (for Mac).
2. Open the main page of the Snaggy service.
3. Press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V (for Windows), ⌘Cmd + V for mac
After inserting into the window, the picture will be uploaded to the Snaggy servers. The service will offer a unique link that can be shared.
Snaggy works both with a fragment of an image selected in a graphics editor and with other applications for taking screenshots. The program allows you to edit the picture before sharing it. It can be cropped, rotated, signed, or painted onto.
Keep in mind that Snaggy only works on one image at a time.
The free version of the service allows you to preview files, has no limitation on their size, provides password protection for documents and provides an opportunity to customize the type of links. Sounds too good to be true. The service is quite easy to use, and its interface is similar to the other downloaders on our list. Smash can send files via email and Slack, as well as generate links.
The user gets 14 days to store files and options to customize the appearance of the download page. You can turn off file preview if desired. To top it off, Smash decided to show creative designs instead of ads when uploading files.
The service provides an excellent set of functionality in its free version. But you can get even more Smash tools with a lucrative premium subscription.
Dropbox and similar cloud services allow you to store large and small files and share them as easily as if they were on your computer. But usually these services require registration with them. If you do not want to do this or prefer faster solutions for one-time file sharing – the solutions listed above are just what you need. Apple product owners should also remember that between macOS and iOS devices, you can share files directly using AirDrop & Android users can use ‘Nearby Share’ feature or use Shareit Mod Apk.
