After a long series of beta tests, Diablo Immortal has finally been officially released on iOS, Android, and PC.
We’ve tried the game and here’s our review:
Diablo Immortal Game Review
Interface, localization, and voice acting
Get ready for the fact that Diablo Immortal with all the additional files weighs a lot. The game is 12.43 GB on iPhone 13 Pro.
At the start, you must select a server. We chose among European ones with a minimum delay. In addition, you can immediately link your Battle.net account – this is necessary to transfer saves to another device. For example, during the day we play on the iPhone, and in the evening we continue on the iPad.
The interface and the entire text part, including the description of quests and dialogues and voice acting, is in English.
Flexible graphics settings allow you to balance between performance and a high level of detail. I immediately set 60 FPS and turned all available options to the maximum. The game immediately reported a high load on the device. For an hour and a half in Diablo Immortal, the iPhone warmed up noticeably, but not critically.
Classes, character creation
At the start, 6 classes are available in the game, which is already well known to fans of the series: barbarian, crusader, demon hunter, monk, necromancer, and sorcerer. All characters are available in male and female versions, as well as easy customization in the form of a choice of skin color. I started my path in Diablo Immortal as a necromancer, since the third part was played by a barbarian and a sorceress, and these classes managed to get boring for me. In a few hours of gameplay, I upgraded the character to level 11. Leveling is very much like Diablo III. Upon reaching a certain level, skills and slots for the open. We combine different techniques to suit your playing style.
To begin with, I want to note right away that Diablo looks great on the iPhone screen. The interface is clean, concise, and not overloaded. In the upper left corner, there is a character icon, and below it is information about the quest with progress.
In the upper right corner of the screen, a map and buttons for accessing inventory and the game menu were placed. Management is implemented using the usual “two-stick” system. With the left finger, we control the movement, and with the right, we press the attacking abilities.
At the bottom of the screen is the experience bar. Oh, yes, I almost forgot, I recommend immediately disabling or minimizing the chat. There, school-age players practice confessions of love to each other’s mothers. I don’t think you will be interested.
Looks and plays Diablo Immortal very well. The gameplay is very much like the third part. We go through story quests, exterminating hordes of all evil spirits along the way and collecting loot.
It doesn’t make much sense to write a lot of words about the plot. If you have been following the news about the game, then most likely you are already aware of what is happening there. I will say this, for me the plot in all Diablo games was secondary. It is, but more important is the gameplay with the already classic hack and slash mechanics. Diablo is especially well revealed in the joint passage. In Immortal, I have not had time to try this feature yet.
However, a few words about the plot need to be said. Immortal should become a connecting thread between the second and third parts. Archangel Tyrael is considered dead and humanity will have to independently rake up the consequences of his actions. Therefore, we go to the defense of Sanctuary to exterminate Diablo’s henchmen.
Most interesting mobile releases of the year. The first few hours in the game sucked me in. There is also a great bonus at the start as gamepad support. At maximum speeds with 60 FPS, the game looks very decent.
Of the minuses – of course, unavailability in Russian stores. It is also not clear why Blizzard decided to bypass the release of Mac computers with an Apple processor. On the iPod Pro with the M1, the game runs smoothly.
Immortal brings the experience of the third part to mobile platforms. If you’ve played previous games in the Diablo universe, then it’s worth messing with the installation and going through the prologue.
