Disney + Hotstar recorded a very fast user growth in a fairly short time.

Disney+ Walt Disney’s video streaming platform reached 100 million users in just 16 months after its launch.

Because the growth is quite fast Disney+ considered to be the strongest competitor of Netflix, as well as other companies.

The company announced that it reached a milestone on Tuesday this week right before its annual meeting.

This achievement has prompted Disney to increase its program budget at Disney +. The Burbank, California-based company has set a target of more than 100 new titles per year.

“The direct business to our consumers is the company’s top priority,” said Chief Executive Officer Bob Chapek in a statement, quoted by Bloomberg, Thursday (11/3).

“And our strong content channel will continue to drive its growth,” he continued.

Disney + debuted in the US in November 2019 and rolled out to Canada, Australia, Latin America and Singapore in the following months. Until now, Disney + is available in 59 countries, including Indonesia.
