Elon Musk announced the future anthropomorphic Tesla Bot. This was reported in Engadget with a link to the last AI Day event.
Tesla Bot will be as human-like as possible. It will be controlled by a self-driving system that is extremely similar to that used in Tesla electric cars. Musk said it would be essentially the same software. It will be designed to perform various auxiliary everyday tasks, while the robot does not need to dictate every step – it will be “taught” to perform complex algorithms.
For example, the owner will not have to dictate to the cyber assistant: “Take this key and tighten this nut”, he will simply say “Install this part”, and the robot will choose the necessary tools and algorithms. In addition to everyday tasks, Tesla Bot will be prepared for various tasks dangerous to humans.
According to the information announced at AI Day, the future robot will be about 173 cm in height, 56-57 kg in weight. He will be able to move at speeds up to 8 km / h and carry loads up to 20 kg. Instead of a robot face, it is equipped with an LCD display for control and adjustment.
Elon Musk separately emphasized that Tesla will provide for the most burning question of customers – a possible uprising of cars. The company understands that the robot must be slower and weaker than a person – then its owner will be able to cope with it in the event of a software failure or deliberate intervention in order to harm people.
Tesla Bot is in the design phase, and the company plans to show a working prototype in 2022. Nothing is known about the estimated cost of the cyber assistant.
