More than a week before the official presentation, Windows 11 leaked online.
Dev build 10.0.21996.1.co_release.210529-1541 is downloadable now, but please note that it is intended for developers only and may be unstable, or even completely break your computer.
You can download the Windows 11 ISO image here . After downloading, boot the image and follow the instructions to update the operating system. Windows 11 should pick up the Windows 10 license key and activate automatically.
If that didn’t work, create a Windows 11 boot disk or USB flash drive and boot from this media.
Various utilities can be used to create bootable media, for example UltraISO :
- Start UltraISO, select “Burn HDD Image”, insert a USB flash drive, select it and click “Burn”.
- Go to your computer’s BIOS (usually you need to press F2 or another button in the functional row during reboot) and specify the USB flash drive as the medium from which the system boots in the first place.
- Save the changes to the BIOS and restart the computer – a program will start that will allow you to install Windows 11 instead of the current operating system from scratch or while saving data.
After successfully installing Windows 11, don’t forget to go back to BIOS and remove USB flash drive as bootable media.
