Starting with iOS 11, Apple has implemented many automatic features related to initial system setup and account authorization. This also applies to Wi-Fi networks – it became possible to connect new devices running iOS 11 (and newer) to your Wi-Fi with a single tap.
How to transfer it to someone else’s iPhone or iPad without naming a Wi-Fi password “in one tap”
The user interface is similar to the AirPods pairing process. When you try to connect to Wi-Fi on a neighboring iPad or iPhone, a notification will be displayed on the device that is already on the network. For example, the iPhone X is a device that is already on the network, and the iPhone 12 is a gadget trying to connect to it.
iPhone 12 (trying to connect to Wi-Fi):
In this case, iPhone 12 displays a password entry window, and iPhone X displays a message prompting you to provide a passcode.
iPhone X (already on Wi-Fi, can share access):
Next with one click on the button Share password you can send the Wi-Fi password to the iPhone 11 and after a short delay, the password input field on the gadget will fill up and the device will be instantly connected to the network.
Thus, users will no longer have to look for a password on the router’s case or enter the code on someone else’s device. It is enough to tell the guest the name of the Wi-Fi network and confirm the connection on your device. The only condition is that the devices of the guest and the “master” of the network must be unlocked and close.
