In 2021, DuckDuckGo Search Engine grew 46%

The developers of privacy-focused search engine DuckDuckGo say their brainchild continues to grow rapidly: it currently processes over 100 million searches per day and grew by almost 47% in 2021.

While Google will remain the dominant search engine, DuckDuckGo has seen impressive growth. So, in 2020, DuckDuckGo processed more than 23.6 billion searches and reached 79 million daily searches at the end of December. Now, in 2021, DuckDuckGo has already processed 34.6 billion searches at the moment and now an average of about 100 million searches per day is obtained. That is, the growth amounted to 46.4% per year.

Despite these impressive numbers, DuckDuckGo still takes only 2.53% of the total market share. Its closest competitors are Yahoo (3.3%) and Bing (6.43%), while Google dominates and owns 87.33% of US search engine traffic.

That being said, it’s worth noting that the DuckDuckGo developers are not only concerned with the search platform. For example, this year they introduced their own mail service that helps to get rid of trackers in emails, and not long ago they even announced that they are working on creating their own browser for desktops.
