From now on, Instagram users will be able to choose how they see likes on the platform. The company announced “global testing”, which will give users a choice of three options.
Now Instagram will have three options: not to see the likes of other people’s posts in the feed, disable likes for your posts, or leave everything as it is and see likes on your own and other people’s posts.
Previously, a similar feature had already been tested on Instagram, but users had no choice. The head of the social network announced the changes on Twitter. He writes that new testing will allow you to decide what is best for you.
An update on like counts.
Last year we started hiding like counts for a small group of people to see if it lessens some pressure when posting to Instagram. Some found this helpful and some still wanted to see like counts, in particular to track what’s popular.

A similar feature will be available on Facebook soon. More details will be announced shortly.
The function with hidden likes is questionable. Many users felt that the lack of likes would prevent them from promoting their brand. In this regard, users can decide for themselves whether their likes are displayed or not.
So far, the function is not available to everyone, but only to a group of people chosen at random. Later, it will appear for other users.
