The creator of the popular jailbreak utility unc0ver has released an update with an important fix. This is reported by the foreign resource iDownloadBlog.
Previously, a user with the nickname Pwn20wnd released version 8.0.0 of his jailbreak utility unc0ver. This assembly first received support for Apple devices running on Apple A12 and A13 chips with iOS / iPadOS 14.6-14.8 installed. However, shortly after launch, users started complaining about an error – unc0ver prevented Apple A12 and iOS 14.6 devices from jailbreaking, displaying an “unsupported device” error.
Now the developer is releasing an update with the number 8.0.1 and assures that he has fixed this bug. Now all owners of compatible gadgets can hack them using unc0ver. Among the Apple devices that are supported by this utility:
- iPhone XR
- iPhone XS / XS Max
- iPhone SE 2020
- iPhone 11 / 11 Pro / 11 Pro Max
- iPad mini 5
- iPad Air 3
- iPad 8 / iPad 9.
If your device came out later than the devices listed above, then most likely unc0ver 8.0.1 is not for you.
It is not yet known whether the developers will be able to release a jailbreak utility for iOS 15. At the moment, only hints of this have appeared on the network, but some working tools have not yet been presented. At the same time, iOS 15 is already installed on the majority of Apple devices around the world – according to statistics, almost 70% of users have updated to it. In fact, the target audience of the jailbreak is decreasing every day.
There is a possibility that owners of devices with A14 and A15 chips and iOS / iPadOS 15 will not be able to use jailbreak – one of the developers previously complained that Apple changed the structure of the iOS file system and access to its kernel in the “tag”. And iOS 15.2 “finished off” these attempts completely.
