Zoom became one of the applications that skyrocketed when the pandemic hit. The video conferencing application will add a new feature, namely real time translation.
Zoom recently announced their plans to acquire a company called Karlsruhe Information Technology Solutions, also known as Kites.
This is a company that specializes in real-time translation that leverages machine learning, which means that there’s a high chance that this could become a new feature in a future Zoom update.
According to Velchamy Sankarlingam, President of Product and Engineering at Zoom, “We are constantly looking for new ways to bring happiness to our users and increase meeting productivity, and will be key in improving our platform for Zoom customers around the world.”
“With our aligned mission to make collaboration frictionless – regardless of language, geographic location or other barriers – we believe the impressive Kites team will be a good match for Zoom.”
Unfortunately it is not yet known when real-time translation will come to Zoom. Of course this will be one of the interesting features of Zoom later.
