The American company Google announced that users of its services have a new opportunity: they can now protect the history of their search queries with a password. Instructions to learn how to do this are posted at website corporations.
To activate the function, the user must go to the page My Google Activity (“My activity on Google”) and click the Manage my activity verification button. With its help, the user will be able to enable an additional verification that will block strangers from accessing the history; previously, anyone with physical access to the device could do this.
It is noted that the ability to password protect search history appeared on the Google-owned YouTube video hosting service and the Google Assistant service.
In addition, users will have the option to completely prevent Google from storing their personal data on company servers, or to choose what organizational information can be stored.
Former Austrian activist Max Schrems filed a complaint on Google for suspicions of constant illegal surveillance of users of smartphones with Android operating system. He spoke of a scheme that allows Google and third parties to track the actions of users on the network.
