Swarmshop carder site hacked, data of 600,000 bank cards stolen

Experts Group-IB report that the Swarmshop carder resource was hacked, and information about all the sellers, buyers, as well as all the data of the stolen cards that were traded on the site, leaked from it.

According to the company, the site was compromised in March 2021, although Swarmshop administrators initially claimed that the data came from a previous hack, dated January 2020. Then the hacker tried to sell the database of forum users, and all participants were asked to change their passwords.

However, Group-IB experts analyzed the fresh dump and came to the conclusion that it is new, judging by the time stamps of user activity. The dump contains 12,344 entries of forum members, including nicknames, hashed passwords, contact details, as well as the activity history of Swarmshop administrators, sellers and buyers.

In total, the database contains 4 records about resource administrators, 90 records about sellers and 12,250 records about stolen data buyers.

Worse, the kidnappers had at their disposal all the information about the stolen bank cards that were traded on the site. The dump contained data on 623,036 payment cards issued by banks in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, China, Singapore, France, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Mexico. Plus 498 sets of online banking credentials and 69,592 sets of social security numbers for US and Canadian residents.

Group-IB CTO Dmitry Volkov says that hacking into carder stores is rare. The company believes that Swarmshop has become a victim of someone’s revenge, and as a result, all sellers have lost their goods and personal data.
