Microsoft will unveil a radically redesigned Windows on June 24, 2021. Bloomberg reports.
The company sent out invitations to the event on Wednesday. It is known that the update will be at the forefront of the Windows insiders who will register in the program for testing new products. The update will most likely go to the masses in the fall.
The new Windows may be numbered 11 or Sun Valley, or perhaps both. At the last Microsoft presentation, quite a bit was said about it, but from insider sources we can roughly imagine what awaits us in this update.
In the images, you can see the main feature of Windows Sun Valley – the rounded corners. Windows 10’s design now features sharp corners and contrasting colors, but that is about to change. Application windows, pop-up menus, dialog boxes, buttons and selection bars, notification banners – all of these elements will receive rounded corners. In this way, Microsoft wants to increase the friendliness of the system, change its perception by the user.
In addition, you can see that the company will add “airiness” to “Windows” – for example, some windows will “hover” over other elements by default. In particular, the “Start” menu will receive such a change – by the way, there is a version that the “Start” button can move and be located in the middle of the dock panel. We have already seen all this in one form or another in macOS Big Sur, which underwent a complete “restyling” in 2020.
Earlier, the company’s CEO Satya Nadella described the new Windows as “the most significant system update in the last decade.” He said that he had been using it for about a month now and was “just happy.”
