Microsoft has released Windows 10 May 2021 Update (version 21H1). This is a relatively small update, with a lot more innovation coming to Windows 10 this fall with the 21H2 release.
Windows 10 May 2021 Update carries build number 19043.928. You can download and install it through the “Options” in the “Windows Update” section, using the utility Media Creation Tool or Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant… You can also download Windows 10 ISO disk image with a new build from the Microsoft website. Before installing, make sure you have enough free space in your drive (about 5 GB should be enough, but more is better).
New Features and Changes of Windows 10 May 2021 Update (version 21H1):
- Windows Hello multi-camera support: Users can use an external camera as their primary camera when both internal and external cameras are connected to the Windows 10 device.
- Windows Defender Application Guard performance improvements: Microsoft has accelerated the WDAG feature, which allows administrators to configure applications to run in a secure, isolated virtualized container. In particular, Microsoft claims that opening documents should be faster.
- WMI Group Policy Performance: Microsoft has improved the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Group Policy Service (GPSVC) and made it faster “to support remote scenarios.”
Fewer new features, fewer bugs. Happy update!
