Xiaomi became the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world after overtaking Apple with a 17 percent market share.
Meanwhile, the annual growth of Xiaomi reached 83 percent over the same period last year.
After overtaking Apple, Xiaomi has ambitions to move up the rankings to overtake Samsung.
Xiaomi’s achievement for the first time was noted in the Q2 2021 global smartphone market report by research firm Canalys.
Through the report, Canalys explained that Xiaomi is now transforming its business model from challenger.
Achievements were achieved through initiatives such as partner consolidation in sales channels and more streamlined management.
Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun emphasized that becoming the global number two is an important milestone in Xiaomi’s journey.
“Xiaomi will strengthen its core capabilities to ensure itself as the second largest smartphone brand in the world,” said Lei Jun in a press release, Friday (16/7).
