Xiaomi has filed documents with the National Intellectual Property Administration of China (CNIPA) to register a patent for the use of sound charging. The device will use sound and various components to charge smartphones and other devices without the need for wires.
The device will consist of a sound charger capable of collecting sound, an energy storage device and an electronic device. Charging mechanism: The accessory will convert sound energy into electrical energy.
Sound charging technology is at an early stage of development. Experts consider Xiaomi’s move to be risky and ambitious. So, the company will have a chance to show the world’s first charger that powers devices using sound.
The smartphone industry is actively looking for an alternative to existing chargers: wired and wireless, when the smartphone is placed on the docking station. Motorola has previously started developing wireless charging for smartphones, which can be used to power the device without physical contact. For this, RF Lensing technology will be used. With it, the smartphone can be charged at a distance of up to 9 feet or up to 2.7 meters.
