Xiaomi will bring Virtual RAM Expansion feature in these smartphones.

Xiaomi has revealed a list of models of its smartphones, as well as sub-brand devices that will receive support for “memory expansion” in MIUI.

This is a feature that expands the RAM at the expense of internal storage. This is called “virtual RAM” – in fact, in some scenarios, the device can receive up to 3 GB of such memory, partially using the built-in storage. Earlier – in April 2021 – the company announced the appearance of this feature in the upcoming MIUI 12.5. Then individual devices of brands and lines Redmi, POCO and Mi began to receive it with system updates.

Now Xiaomi has told which devices this option will become available in the near future, and which will receive it a little later. Among those smartphones that can already be updated and expand memory:

  • all Xiaomi and sub-brand smartphones with Snapdragon 888, 870 and 865 processors (except Mi MIX Fold)
  • POCO X3 GT
  • Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G
  • Redmi Note 9 5G
  • Redmi Note 9T 5G
  • Redmi 9T
  • Redmi Note 8.

And these devices will receive support for “memory expansion” in the near future:

  • Xiaomi Mi MIX 4
  • Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite NE
  • Redmi Note 10
  • Redmi Note 10S
  • Redmi Note 10 5G
  • Redmi Note 10i
  • Redmi 10
  • Redmi 9i
  • Redmi 9C
  • Redmi 9A
  • Redmi Note 8Т
  • Redmi Note 8 2021.

Xiaomi promises that later on “memory expansion” will be received by other devices of the company – this will be especially useful for budget smartphones, the amount of RAM in which is often from 1 to 4 GB.
