YouTube borrowed highlights feature from porn sites

YouTube has begun testing an experimental innovation. It was implemented at the request of users, and they clearly spied on this thing on porn sites.

YouTube will highlight the highlights in your videos. If the video is long and not particularly interesting, you can jump to the segment that other users are watching most closely.

YouTube support writes that some users are already participating in testing this innovation. A graph is displayed above the progress bar, the rise in which indicates that this or that fragment aroused the most interest of viewers – they did not rewind the video or switch it, but carefully watched the video. If YouTube gets good feedback on the innovation, it could appear permanently for all users.

A similar graph of viewer interest is found on porn sites. The user can start the video and see a fragment in the timeline, which is worth going to in order to see all the most dynamic and interesting, without wasting time on meaningless dialogues and preludes. Below is how such a graph looks, for example, on PornHub.
